SEND

SEND Provision

Our SENCO and Assistant SENCO co-ordinate and oversee the provision of individual support for children with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND). This includes:
  • Supporting class teachers and teaching assistants (for example, by helping to set individual, long and short term targets to be worked on and identifying useful strategies/resources);
  • Communicating with parents;
  • Liaising with a variety of outside agencies offering detailed advice and support such as:
    • Speech and Language Therapy,
    • Educational Psychologist (who provides detailed assessment and offers advice and      strategies),
    • Therapist (who works with individual children experiencing a range of emotional difficulties),
    • School Nurse (who provides a link between School and Home),
    • Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Service (EWMHS - which provides advice for children and their families);
  • Overseeing Teaching Assistants who also act as Learning Mentors (who are available to talk regularly to individual children about any issue which may be troubling them and which is affecting their ability to learn e.g. organisational skills, friendship difficulties).
